Dr John Mills

John has been Radiotherapy Physics Manager in the Department of Clinical Physics and Bioengineering at Coventry since 1995. After several years in the Nuclear Industry started in Nuclear Medicine in 1981 and completed his PhD in Tomographic Nuclear Cardiology in 1987. That year he began work in Radiotherapy at Clatterbridge Hospital where he became very involved with treatment machine commissioning and quality control under the guidance of Dr Jim Shaw. Since moving to Coventry in 1989 his work on machine QC and planned preventative maintenance has developed and he was one of the prime movers in setting up Interdepartmental Audit in the Midlands. He is a member of the British Standards Committee CH62 for radiotherapy equipment. One aspect of research and development in which he is interested concerns the improvement of machine performance for IMRT utilising data logging and data mining.

John initiated the Course in 1998 in collaboration with John Tuohy, Hamish Porter, Tom Jordan and David Bonnett.
